Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – The Bridgewater Eagles volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision on Wednesday evening to Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) foe Randolph-Macon at Crenshaw Gymnasium.
Bridgewater fell by scores of 25-15, 25-10 and 25-16.
The Eagles opened the first set by taking four of the first five points, but Randolph-Macon answered with six unanswered points before taking the set by a 25-15 tally. The Eagles committed eight attack errors in the set to allow the Yellow Jackets to jump out to an early 1-0 lead.
Randolph-Macon controlled play in the second set after the Eagles owned an early 6-5 lead. A Yellow Jackets service error ace followed by a Carly Casto kill allowed Bridgewater to jump out to a one-point lead before the Yellow Jackets posted a pair of big runs to take the set. Randolph-Macon capitalized on numerous Bridgewater miscues over the final points to take a 25-10 victory.
Set three saw the Yellow Jackets open up an early lead after a number of mistakes cost the Eagles with Randolph-Macon taking a 12-2 lead. The two teams traded points before a pair of Casto kills brought the Eagles back to within single digits but it wasn't enough as the Yellow Jackets took the final set by a 25-16 tally.
Casto's seven kills led the Bridgewater offense on the evening as the Eagles hit at a slim .034 attack percentage after committing 24 attack errors in the contest, leading to a number of points for the Yellow Jackets.
Courtney Lowers pushed down 13 kills to lead the Randolph-Macon attack as the Yellow Jackets hit at a blistering .471 attack percentage on the evening.
Bridgewater is back in action on Friday when it travels to the nation's capital to take part in the Worthington Classic at Gallaudet University.
