BRIDGEWATER, Va. – In a match that was moved up a day due to pending weather, the Bridgewater Eagles men's tennis team dismantled visiting Lynchburg College en route to a 9-0 ODAC victory.
Bridgewater cruised in doubles play with a pair of victories and a win by forfeit, before cruising in singles play to wrap up the shutout win.
Brad Dewitt and Teddy Callow made it two in a row with an 8-3 win at number one, before the duo of Brent Floyd and Peter Hawkins claimed a tight 8-6 win at number two.
In singles play, Hawkins and DeWitt got the Eagles off on a good note with 6-1, 6-2 wins at number one and two.
Floyd followed suit with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph at number three, while Callow claimed victory in the tightest singles match of the day by a 6-1, 4-6, 10-7 score.
Senior Tim Gower wrapped up the win prevailing by 6-1, 6-3 score number five.
Bridgewater won the matchups at number three doubles and number six singles by forfeit.
With the win, Bridgewater has won three of its last four matches and sits at 9-6 overall and 4-2 in the ODAC.
Bridgewater is back in action on April 6 when the team travels to Randolph.
