LYNCHBURG, Va. - In an ODAC men's tennis
showdown at Lynchburg, the Bridgewater Eagles (7-4, 5-1 ODAC) made
easy work of the Lynchburg Hornets as the Eagles cruised to a 9-0
victory.
In doubles action, senior Chris Radke and junior Brad DeWitt
teamed up for an 8-2 win at number one.
Freshman Peter Hawkins and teammate Teddy Callow kept things
rolling for the Eagles with an 8-4 win at number two before Martin
Donaire and Brent Floyd kept BC perfect in doubles play with an 8-2
win at number three.
Radke/DeWitt and Donaire/Floyd share the team lead for
Bridgewater with seven doubles wins apiece.
In singles action, Radke got things started with a 6-0, 6-1 win
at number one before Peter Hawkins took a straight sets 6-1, 6-1
victory at number two to earn his ninth win of the year.
DeWitt picked up an easy 6-0, 6-1 win at number three to also
move to nine wins in 2010.
Callow was involved in the closest singles match of the day as
the junior dropped the first set before roaring back to win the
final two sets by a 1-6, 6-3, 10-8 tally.
At number five singles, Floyd won his team-leading
10th match of the year in 6-1, 6-3 fashion before Martin
Donaire rounded out BC's sweep of the Hornets with a 6-3, 6-3 win
at number six.
BC chalked up their 50th individual singles win of
the year on the day to put the Eagles at 50-16 in singles action.
Bridgewater is back in action on Thursday, April 8 when it hosts
Roanoke.
