EMORY, Va. - For the first time this season,
the Bridgewater Eagles women's tennis team picked up victories in
two straight matches, this time defeating Emory & Henry by an
8-1 score in ODAC action.
Senior Megan Mathias won her sixth singles match of the Spring
with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Jill Williams at number one singles.
BC dropped it's lone match of the day at number two doubles when
Olivia Stone fell by a 6-0, 7-5 tally.
Alissa Michael and Morgan McGhee were both 6-0, 6-1 winners at
number three and four, respectively.
Sophomore Ally McConaughy and fellow sophomore Emily Schweitzer
both won shortened format matches at number five and six to seal
the victory for the Eagles.
With the victory already in hand, the Eagles swept the doubles
matches, led by a pair of 8-5 wins at number one and two.
The tandem of McConaughy and Schweitzer turned in their
team-leading ninth win of the Spring with an 8-1 win at number
three.
Bridgewater is back in action on Thursday when the squad travels
to Lynchburg for an ODAC showdown with the Hornets.
