BRIDGEWATER, Va. - In the team's 2010 spring
opener, the Bridgewater women's tennis team charged back with two
doubles victories but it wasn't enough as the squad fell by a 5-4
score to visiting Virginia Wesleyan.
In singles play, Alissa Michael and Amanda Gorby were the lone
victors, while Megan Mathias and Ally McConaughy each nearly pulled
off victories.
Michael was a 6-4, 6-1 winner at number three, while Gorby
pulled out a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the six spot.
Mathias lost in the tiebreak at number one singles, while
McConaughy suffered a similar fate at number five.
In doubles action, Mathias and Michael were 9-7 winners at
number one, while McConaughy and Emily Schweitzer teamed up for an
8-6 victory at number three.
Bridgewater is back in action on Wednesday when the team travels
to Shenandoah.
