NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - After months of indoor
practice, the Bridgewater Eagles softball team finally took to the
diamond on Sunday in its season opener at Christopher Newport.
Bridgewater struggled in a twinbill with the Captains, falling by a
3-0 count and a 10-4 score at Captains Park.
Bridgewater never led the Captains in either half of the
doubledip, as CNU jumped out to identical 2-0 leads after the
opening inning in each game.
In the nightcap, three BC errors turned into seven unearned runs
for Christopher Newport as the Captains pounded out 13 hits to earn
the 10-4 win.
Bridgewater is back in action on Saturday when the squad hosts
the 2010 home opener against Hood. The first pitch for Saturday's
doubleheader is slated for 1:30 p.m.
