Box Score WINCHESTER, Va. - Bridgewater rallied from a
three-goal deficit early in the second half Sunday to defeat
Shenandoah University 14-12 in non-conference women's lacrosse
action.
"We haven't practiced on the field this year so we looked really
rough in the first half," Bridgewater head coach Kathy Kerr said.
"But we got it together and came back to get the win. It was a
great win for us, a great start."
The Eagles trailed 7-5 at the half of their season opener and a
goal by Shenandoah's Sydney Anderson put the Hornets on top by
three goals.
The Eagles then scored six unanswered goals to take the lead.
Aili Knapp started the run with a free position goal and goals by
Caitlin Costello and Megan Bach tied the score at 8-8. Kate Moulton
then scored with 17:38 left in the game to give the Eagles the
lead, 9-8. Leslie Crawford and Moulton capped the rally with goals
to give BC an 11-8 lead with 12:08 left in the contest.
The Hornets pulled to within one, 13-12, with a goal at the 2:40
mark, but Moulton scored off an assist from Sarah Bursey with 1:55
remaining for the game's final score.
Moulton led the Eagles with six goals in her first collegiate
contest. Costello added two goals to the BC attack while Bach, Erin
Cartwright, Elizabeth Blake, Mary Robinson, Knapp, Crawford and
Mary Robinson added on goal apiece. Cartwright also finished with a
pair of assists.
Goalkeeper Colleen Schwind finished the contest with 12 saves.
The Eagles are schedule to be back in action Thursday when they
travel to Ferrum for a non-conference contest.
