Eagles Win in Three

Box Score

The Bridgewater College volleyball improved their ODAC record to 4-6 after defeating Randolph College in three straight.

In the first game, the teams battled back and forth before BC gained control 14-11.  Senior Candice Guy (Fishersville, VA/Wilson Memorial) had back-to-back kills to push the Eagle lead to six, 21-15.  Kai-Lynn Stoker (Potomac, MD/Jack Brit) had a service ace to end the game 25-16.

The Wildcats kept their attack going and lead the Eagles 8-7 in game two.  BC rallied to tie the score at eight's and took the lead for good at 9-8.  Freshman Katie Long (Floyd, VA/Floyd Co.) had a kill, a block assist, and another kill to give BC a 21-13 lead.  Guy then had back-to-back kills for a 23-14 lead.  RC then ran off six straight points to cut the lead to 23-20. Junior Katie Baker (Strasburg, VA/Strasburg) had back-to-back kills for the 25-20 win.

The third game saw Randolph jump out to an early 2-5 before the Eagles mounted their own comeback.  Baker had a kill and a service ace to cut the lead 4-5.  Randolph held the lead until a service ace by Casey O'Leary (Quinton, VA/New Kent) tied the game.  O'Leary then had two more service aces to give BC a 13-11 edge.  Randolph kept it close but BC didn't falter.  Long had a kill to give BC a 18-15 lead.  Cadie Castle (Mineral, VA/Louisa Co.) then had back-to-back kills giving the Eagles a 23-16 lead.  BC went on to win the match 25-19.

Bridgewater was lead in kills by Baker with nine.  Baker also had three blocks on the evening.  Freshman Lindsay Kallam (Virginia Beach, VA/Princess Anne) had 29 assists and three blocks, while O'Leary and Stocker each had 10 digs.

It was the last home game for senior Candice Guy.  "Candice was one of the players that decided to come back when I took over the program. She kept the stability and tradition BC volleyball." said Spector.  "She is a passionate, hard working player.  After her injury last season, she is really beginning to hit her stride heading into the ODAC tournament. "

Bridgewater travels to St. Mary's for the 6th Annual Seahawk Invitational this weekend as their final tune-up before the ODAC tournament next weekend.
