NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Bridgewater Eagles field hockey team fell by a 2-0 score on the road to the #8 Christopher Newport Captains (14-2) in the team's non-conference finale at Captain's Field.

Bridgewater's (9-7) stingy defense, held the eighth-ranked Captains off of the scoreboard for the first 34-plus minutes, until a Katelyn Yandle shot found the back corner of the cage with 23 ticks left in the first half to put CNU ahead 1-0 as the game entered the intermission.

Out of the halftime break, the Eagles kept it at a one-goal differential until the 48:58 mark when Yandel tallied her second goal of the game off of a tip in, to put CNU ahead 2-0, which is where the game would end.

Bridgewater's offense was held without a shot in the loss, as the Captains outshot the Eagles by a 12-0 tally.

Junior goalkeeper Taylor Waddell (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley) recorded four saves in the loss.

Bridgewater rounds out the regular season on Wednesday when Washington and Lee comes to town. Action against the Generals is slated for a 4:00 p.m. start.
