Bridgewater College opened play at the ODAC tournament Friday with an 8-1 victory over Eastern Mennonite at the Moyer Complex.

Ashley Gills went the distance in the circle for the Eagles. She allowed one run on five hits. Gills walked one and struck out 10.

The Eagles scored five runs in the second to take the lead against the Royals. Kaitlyn Bowman and Caity Butler singled to lead off the inning and a single by Lauren Childress plated the first run. A fielding error led to two more runs and a base hit by Mallory Sandridge plated two more, making the score 5-0.

With the victory, the Eagles improved to 32-7 on the season. BC plays Guilford at 7 p.m. on Friday night, April 24.
