Danielle Hawkins completed her third year as the head coach of the Bridgewater College women's lacrosse program in 2016.
The Eagles qualified for the ODAC playoffs in 2016, their first postseason berth since 2004. Bridgewater was eliminated 14-12 on the road in a hard-fought contest at third-seeded Lynchburg.
In 2015, the Eagles placed eighth in the ODAC but were within three goals or less in all six ODAC losses, including a tough 9-8 defeat at #11 Washington & Lee. Defender Caroline Augsburger was a first team All-Conference selection and sophomore goalie Rachel Gruber ranked sixth nationally in save percentage.
During Hawkins' first year at the helm, Hawkins' Eagles finished with a 6-11 record and a 3-7 mark in ODAC play. Junior Caroline Augsburger was named to the second team to lead four selections to the All-ODAC teams.
Prior to coming to Bridgewater, Hawkins served as the interim head coach for the Wilkes Lady Colonels and led the program to a 10-4 overall record during the 2013 season and the program’s first playoff appearance with a trip to the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) conference tournament. Five Lady Colonels were named to the all-conference team following a 4-2 mark in conference play and the most regular season wins in program history.
“I'm excited for this opportunity to work with a team that has been making great progress over the past couple of years,” said Hawkins. “I will begin to recruit immediately, and hope to find new talent and athletes with a good work ethic. I’m also grateful to Bridgewater College for the opportunity they have given to me to lead its women’s lacrosse program.”
Prior to her time at Wilkes, Hawkins enjoyed after a four-year career at Division I Monmouth University. She was a four-year starter for a Hawks team that made three semifinal appearances in the North East Conference (NEC) Tournament. During her time at Monmouth, Hawkins was named to the 2010 NEC Sportsmanship Team following her junior season.
She was an active member in the Monmouth Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (MSAAC) as well as participating in the 2010 NCAA Career in Sports Forum.
Hawkins graduated from Monmouth in May of 2011 with a degree in business administration with a focus in finance and earned her master’s degree in business administration from Wilkes in May of 2013.
