Bridgewater College Director of Athletics Curt Kendall announced Joshua Smith has been named Assistant Director for Athletic Media Relations in August 2025.
Smith, a Greensboro, N.C. native, spent two years as a Graduate Assistant in the University of Lynchburg’s Athletic Communications department. Smith was the primary contact person for men’s and women’s tennis, men’s basketball, and men’s soccer.
Smith created digital media assets for Lynchburg’s 25 varsity sports teams and assisted with broadcast operations for the Lynchburg Hornets Sports Network. Smith covered multiple NCAA championship events through Lynchburg and as a freelance videographer.
Smith’s videography portfolio earned him third place in the College Sports Communicators Videographer of the Year – College Division Award in 2025. Smith’s individual graphic and video submissions were cited among the best in non-Division I institutions.
Before Lynchburg, Smith coached Greensboro College’s men’s and women’s tennis teams during the 2023 spring season. Simultaneously, he coached high school swimming at his alma mater, Ben L. Smith High School.
Smith graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport management in 2022 from Wingate University. During his time at Wingate, Smith served as a student assistant and manager for the Bulldogs’ nationally ranked tennis programs. He also briefly worked in athletic communications as a student photographer.
Smith is currently pursuing a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Lynchburg.
