Stephanie Flamini

Bridgewater College director of athletics Curt Kendall has announced the hiring of former ODAC Coach of the Year and WBCA Region Coach of the Year Stephanie Flamini as the College's new head coach for the women's basketball program. Flamini will be the eighth head coach in the program's history.

In the 2024-25 season, the Eagles tallied an overall record of 21-5, including winning 17 of their first 18 contests. Flamini picked up her 400th win in a victory at Roanoke and her crew started to receive votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll. BC’s national accolades continued as it finished in the top-five nationally in scoring defense. The Eagles earned the second seed in the ODAC Tournament before falling in the quarterfinals. BC earned three All-ODAC selections as Jaden Alsberry and Riley Corcoran returned to the all-conference list, while Jay Garcia received her first all-conference selection. Flamini guided Alsberry to a Third Team All-Region selection and a VaSID All-State Second Team selection. The Eagles had four players named to the CSC Academic All-District list.

The 2023-24 season saw the Eagles tally an 18-8 overall record and make a return trip to the ODAC semifinals for the second consecutive season in exhilarating fashion. Flamini's crew ranked inside the top-15 nationally in scoring defense and boasted the country's sixth-best field goal percentage defense. The Eagles earned a pair of All-ODAC selections as Alsberry and Riley Corcoran returned to the all-conference list.

In 2022-23, the Eagles crossed the 20-win plateau and made it to the ODAC semifinals for the first time in nearly 10 years. BC picked up three All-ODAC selections including two back-to-back award winners in Jaden Alsberry and Erika Nettles in Flamini's first year at the helm of the program.

Flamini led the Guilford College women's basketball program for 18 years, leading the Quakers to a  287-171 record, which included six Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship final appearances and three league titles. The winningest coach in program history, she was a two-time ODAC Coach of the Year (2016, 2019), a Women's Basketball Coaches Association Region 5 Coach of the Year and a finalist for the National Coach of the Year during her tenure.

"I am excited for the hiring of Stephanie Flamini as our next head women's basketball coach. She brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and proven success to our traditionally strong women's basketball program," said Kendall. "She knows our conference well and brings great passion, leadership and a competitive drive that will serve our current and future players well."

The King of Prussia, Pa. native served as Guilford's senior woman administrator from 2003-2021 and gained an assistant athletic director title in 2015.

Most recently, Flamini served as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics at the University of Hartford as a key member of the university's transition to Division III.

Before joining Guilford's staff, Flamini spent three seasons as head coach of the women's basketball team at Chowan University. She guided Chowan to three straight winning seasons, amassing a 42-32 record during that time. Flamini also worked as Chowan's Senior Woman Administrator/Assistant Athletic Director.

Flamini, who also enjoyed a stint as women's basketball coach and Assistant Director of Athletics/Senior Woman Administrator at University of Maine at Farmington, has also worked as an assistant coach at Shippensburg University and West Chester University.
