    Volunteer Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach

Seth Normington joined the Bridgewater cross country and track & field programs as volunteer coach during the 2019-2020 season.  He has over a decade of experience coaching at the secondary and collegiate levels, primarily working with distance runners. 

He comes to Bridgewater with a diverse knowledge of all track & field events. He most recently was the head cross country coach at Waterville-Mansfield Middle Schools in Washington where he coached all events and designed all workouts. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach at Waterville High School. At Waterville, Normington coached five all-state performers and 15 all-state qualifiers. 

Normington also coached at Linden High School in Michigan, specializing in the 800m through the 3200m. He coached the first girl's all-state track athletes for the school in 25 years that set a school record in 3200m relay. Linden saw 19 individual state track qualifiers and nine all-state athletes during his tenure. The team was regional champions from 2005-2012, league champions from 2005-2011 and a top ten program in Michigan from 2011-2016.

Normington is USATF Level I and Level II certified, a NFHS Nationally Accredited Interscholastic Coach, a USATF Certified Official, WIAA Pole Vault Certified, and First Aid/AED certified. Normington also serves as an athletics official serving at national meets.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Western Washington University and a Masters of Arts in Religious Studies from Gonzaga University. He holds a doctorate from Fuller Theological Seminary and is the pastor of a local church.  He is married to his wife Gemma, an artist and teacher.  They live in Harrisonburg and have three grown children.
