Joe Brunner enters his 4th year at Bridgewater College where he serves as an assistant to the cross country program and works with the throwing events during the track and field seasons.
 
During his first 3 years with the Eagles, Brunner’s throwers have seen significant improvement and success.  Brunner has coached 2 NCAA DIII All-Americans in the men’s weight throw, 5 NCAA DIII National Championship qualifiers, 1 USTFCCCA South Region Field Athlete of the Year, 18 USTFCCCA All-South Region selections, 10 ODAC Individual Champions and 25 All-ODAC Selections.  His athletes have also set 6 school records.
 
Brunner was named USTFCCCA South Region Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year for outdoor track and field in 2023.
 
Brunner came to Bridgewater from Benedictine University where he was assistant coach and guided the men and women to NACC Championship caliber performances. Prior to his time at Benedictine, he coached the throwers at Division I University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for four seasons. 
 
While at UW-Milwaukee he coached 3 NCAA DI Championships Preliminaries qualifiers, 9 individual conference champions, 5 school record-breaking performances and added 41 new marks to the Milwaukee all-time top ten lists.
 
Brunner is USTFCCCA certified in strength and conditioning, throws, meet management and injury management. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 2014 with a degree in history where he was an NCAA DIII All-American and a three-year letter winner.  The Titans placed in the top 5 teams at every NCAA DIII Championship meet during his time with the program.
