Women's Soccer Drops First Match to Red Devils

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Bridgewater College women's soccer team fell on the road to Dickinson 2-0 Saturday afternoon.

The Basics

Score: Bridgewater 0, Dickinson 2

Records: Bridgewater (3-1), Dickinson (2-0-1)

How it Happened

  • In the opening three minutes of the match, Dickinson attempted two shots. The first missed wide right, and the second found the gloves of Bridgewater keeper Erinn Lockard. In the fifth minute, Ava Prisco sent a shot low right into the back of the net.

  • In the coming minutes, Laura Narby and Lyric Birkley took shots that were on target but were stopped by the hands of Red Devils keeper Pico Gray.

  • In the 34th minute, Kendall Garza committed a foul in the box, leading to a penalty kick. Dickinson's Joelle Ma capitalized on the penalty opportunity to extend the Red Devils lead to 2-0.

  • In the second half, Bridgewater's defense saw less shots from Dickinson compared to the first half. Both teams took five shots. Dickinson had three shots on target, while Bridgewater only had one. Both goalies stopped every shot in the second half.

Match Notes

  • The two goals in the contest were the first goals allowed of the season for Bridgewater. The Bridgewater team shut out its first three opponents this season. Coming into this match, the last time a Bridgewater women's soccer team accomplished a similar feat was back in 2014.

  • Bridgewater's back line faced pressure in the first half from the Dickinson attack. The Red Devils put up 11 shots, while the Eagles only mustered four. However, Lockard did make three saves in the first half versus Gray's two. In the second half, Dickinson's attack only took five shots. Three of those shots were on target but were saved by Lockard.
