How It Happened
-
The Eagles quickly set their focus on the Wildcats, and it showed as soon as the ball was served. In the first set, BCE captured strong scoring runs and effectively snuffed out any potential momentum changes throughout the set and the match. The Crimson & Gold found success halfway in the opening set as Faith DePew got a dominant rally going off a devastating attack. The Eagles efficiently rang the lead up to 10 with a six-point surge. Another scoring rally soon followed as Agnes Alford struck the defensive gap with back-to-back kills. Reagan Stoop capitalized on the opening set with a sharp rocket and a 25-14 set score.
-
The momentum quickly carried over into the second set as BCE enlarged on a six-point scoring rally while executing off Randolph's offensive mishaps. Gabby Atwell and Stoop paired up, cracking attacks to get the lead to a healthy 12-3 advantage. The Eagles did not stop there, as a seven-point surge came about which added to the commanding momentum. The second set went to BCE for a 25-12 set score.
-
The Eagles never lost rhythm as the same powerful offensive plays took place in the third set. Maya Veselinovic added to the kill totals helping BCE get off to a definitive 5-0 lead. The Wildcats managed to tie it up at six apiece, but the Crimson & Gold surely never wavered. A stunning seven-point scoring rally ensued to make it 13-6 which would be enough to pull away from RC and head back home with the win off a straight set victory and a 25-16 final set score.
