The Eagles earned their 20th win of the season with a 13-3 victory over the Blazers on Wednesday.
The Basics
Score: Bridgewater (BCE) 13, Hood (HC) 3
Records: BCE (20-9-1), HC (9-19)
How It Happened
-
Although tying the game and holding onto a one-run lead by HC, that effort soon became short-lived; as BCE charged ahead to take hold of the game with the help of back-to-back five-run innings. The scoring surge started in the first and continued dominantly in the fourth. Chandler Valbak got the opening knock in the game with a two-run double; to score Lucas Bauer and Nick Stavros.
-
The Blazers managed to build a small-working comeback while claiming the lead in the fourth inning; first with a run scored in the first and then a pair of runs with bases loaded in the fourth. Joe Christopher, steadily dealing on the mound, successfully got out of the jam to begin the momentum shift. The Eagles quickly evened the score with a sacrifice fly by Bryce Suters, bringing in Ashton Smith. Then, Nick Stavros stepped up to the plate, ready to attack. Stavros found the gap in right field to send home Andrew Cheatham. Soon after, Zack Chadwell belted a three-run home run far over the right field wall and into the tree line.
-
With a strong 8-3 advantage heading into the fifth, the Eagles pressed the gas some more. In a disciplined approach at the plate, BCE worked a walk to score in a run with bases loaded. Following the Suters walk, Stavros followed suit with a walk of his own, scoring another run. Then, errant fielding mistakes by the Blazers helped the Eagles to pounce on a wild pitch to score the 10th run of the game at 10-3. The Eagles extended the inning once more. Chadwell was hungry for more as the power hitter found open grass in right field to bring home Stavros and Suters.
Game Notes
