BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's tennis team fell to Randolph 7-0 on Saturday in ODAC action.
Randolph took the doubles point quickly to open the match, but BC's top duo made things interesting as the pairing of
Sarah Slagle and
Jolexie Whetzel jumped out to a 3-2 lead before falling 3-6 as the WildCats worked a clean sweep.
Whetzel and
Emma Staton proved to be tough outs for Randolph as both led in their opening sets at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots before falling 4-6, 0-6 t their positions.
Raea Crabill's unorthodox strategy worked as she dropped the opening set 2-6, but took the second 6-4 to force a match tiebreak at the No. 4 spot. There was little separation between the Crabill and her foe in the breaker, but a short run by the wildcats made the difference leading to a 6-10 scoreline.Â
BC is back in action on Sunday as Roanke visits the Mapp-Whitelow Tennis Courts.
