How It HappenedÂ
-
Bridgewater had the game's first chance as Kiley Parker had her shot blocked and nit resulted in a penalty corner. Shenandoah weathered the storm and flipped the field with a corner of its own a few moments later and capitalized on a penalty stroke to take a 1-0 lead three minutes in. The Hornets looked to add on as they kept pushing for chances. SU had multiple shots on goal down the stretch of the opening stanza, but a pair of saves by Ashley Nau kept the difference at just a score.Â
-
BC had the first opportunity of the second quarter as Lexi Francis fired a shot that was turned aside by the SU goalkeeper. Shenandoah flipped the field and ripped three shots in under 20 seconds, but Nau turned all of them away to keep the game at 1-0. Each team rifled shots on target late in the second quarter but each defense made the stops necessary heading into the half.
-
Shenandoah had the third quarter's first scoring chance, but the Eagles defense blocked the shot off a penalty corner. BC flipped the field and capitalized as Natalie Stock found Mollie Best who buried her shot into the back of the net to tie the game midway through the third quarter. The two sides traded chances before SU got the last laugh on the second penalty corner of a series as a shot found the back of the net to take the lead back with four minutes to go in the frame. Shenandoah registered the only shot in the rest of the period, but it missed the target.
- SU had the first chance of the fourth frame, but Madalyn Miller made a save to keep BC in it. The Eagles flipped the field after the save and Maylynn Watson fired a shot on target and it was turned away by the home team. Kylie Amberger put a shot on net with just north of five minutes to go, but the Hornets turned it away. The Eagles kept pushing and it paid off in the final minute as Watson scooped up a loose ball in front of the cage, but had her chance blocked just before the horn.
