HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One:
  • BC carried a 1-0 lead into the resumption of the contest and the Royals had a runner on second in the top of the fifth with two outs. Delaney Lail induced a groundout over to Jazmyne Smith at first to end the frame.
  • Jordan Wise got the offense in business with a single the opposite way to start the home half of the fifth. EMU got two quick outs, but Lail did her own run support with a double to the left field wall to drive in Wise and make it 2-0.
  • The Royals' offense got to work in the top of the sixth as a Samantha Hensely single with one out gave them life. Lail got a strikeout to get the second out, but a pair of EMU hits drove in Hensley and chopped the lead in half at 2-1. Lail sat down Makayla Cyzick to end the threat during the next at bat.
  • BC gave Lail a bigger lead to work with in the bottom of the sixth by virtue of a pair of RBI singles from Mckenna Mueller and Wise to make it 4-1 heading to the seventh.   Lail got two quick outs before a two-out single gave EMU some hope. That's when Lail did Lail things as she ended the game with a strikeout.
GAME STATS:
  • Wise led the Eagles offensively with a 4-for-4 effort in the contest and a pair of RBI. Lail reached all three times she got to the plate with a pair of walks and a double to the wall.
  • Both Hensley and Grace Fravel tallied multi-hit efforts for the Royals in the loss. Natalye Graham took the loss in the circle for EMU after going the advertised distance and striking out five.
  • Lail stayed hot in the circle with her second double-digit strikeout game in her last three outings and won her third straight game in the circle.
