BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College baseball team sparked a late inning comeback to down Eastern Mennonite 7-4 in a Bleed Crimson game on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both pitchers kept the offenses quiet throughout the first three innings, but the Eagles' offense came alive in the bottom of the fourth. Jonathan Sexton hit a deep drive to center field to earn a two bagger, then moved up to third on a wild pitch. A sacrifice fly from Tristan Gordon brought Sexton home and give BC the early 1-0 lead.
- The Royals battled back in the top of the fifth when the leadoff batter drew a walk, then another walk garnered a threat for Bridgewater. Erik Wilkinson hit an opposite field home run over the ODAC champions wall to take the two-run lead, 3-1. James Swart got the final two outs on consecutive ground outs.
- Christian Harris led off the bottom of the second dropping a ball over the right fielder's head leading to a double. Jeffrey Snider hit a ball through the right side to bring Christian Harris home taking back a run.
- Andrew Baugher came in relief for Swart in the top of the sixth only allowing one hit through two innings pitched.
- A rally started in the bottom of the seventh for the Eagles when Bauer started off the inning with a walk. Snider took a hit by pitch, then TJ Johnson was called on to pinch hit and drew another big walk to load the bases for BC. A costly mistake from the pitcher led to Bauer using his speed to knot the game up at 3-3. Brandan Hartman drew the third walk of the inning which led to Sexton popping a ball up the middle to plate two more runs.
- Bridgewater tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning when Bauer hit an infield single to third base. Bauer came all the way home to score after a throwing error by EMU's pitcher costed them a run. Christian Harris delivered a double to the right center field gap to give the Eagles the 7-3 lead.
- The Royals picked up one their last run in the top of the ninth when Nick Arnold hit a double to deep center field. Nick Harris stayed composed getting the next three outs leading to a 7-4 victory.
GAME STATS
- Sexton had a 3-for-4 performance at the plate tacking on two RBIs and scoring a run.
- Christian Harris also had a multi-hit day going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
- Bauer picked scored two runs in the contest to lead the team.
- Swart had an impressive start going 5.0 IP, only allowing three runs on two hits with five Strike outs. Baugher registered his fourth win of the season after coming in late only giving up one hit through 2.0 innings of work. Nick Harris was impressive in closing with 2.0 IP, one run on two hits and two strike outs.
- Damen Tapscott had an impressive outing on the mound but was awarded the loss after going 6.2 IP.
