HOW IT HAPPENED
- Woody Machado got the Eagle got the board first as Jordan Cooper connected with him for a floater. The Quakers replied with four-straight points before an Alec Topper bucket tied things back up. A three-pointer and a layup in transition from Tyler Dearman put GC in front 9-4 before BC closed back in with a pair at the charity stripe from Machado and a long ball from Topper to tie the game at 9-9. Another Dearman bucket started a 7-0 run for the Quakers to take a 16-9 advantage. Landon Hawes got the Eagles back on the board as he connected from deep to cut the lead to four points. On cue Dearman drove to the hole and finished, but another Hawes triple helped the Eagles close back to within a trio of points with 8:45 left in the half.
- Guilford replied to the pressure with a 7-0 scoring run with four more from Dearman. Topper drained a three-pointer to end the drought for the Eagles, but eight more points went up without an answer for GC before Woody Machado knocked down a three-pointer at the horn to send it to the half at a 33-21 edge for the No. 9 team in the country.
- The Quakers opened the second half with four-consecutive points before a pair of free throws from Cooper and a Ward dunk nullified the early scoring run from the home side. From that point on it was all Guilford as the home team embarked on a 16-2 run led by eight combined points from the Proctor brothers to find themselves ahead 54-27 with 10 minutes left to play.
- RK Law got the Eagles back on the board as he and Joseph Crenshaw connected for a score. The Quakers responded as they drove down the floor and scored, but a Law three-pointer started to give BC some life. Dearman was on the rebuttal for GC before Law connected again from deep to keep the ball rolling; however, from that point forward Guilford outscored Bridgewater 19-2 over the next 5:22. Keiman Dillon's second chance effort got the Eagles on the board in the final seconds.
