Field Hockey Cruises to Win Over EMU

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Bridgewater College field hockey shutout the EMU Royals on the road, 6-0 Wednesday night.

The Basics

Score: Bridgewater (BCE) 6, Eastern Mennonite (EMU) 0

Records: BCE (7-3-1 Overall, 1-1 Conf.), EMU (0-11 Overall, 0-2 Conf.)

How It Happened

  • The Eagles opened the scoring early in five minutes of play as sophomore Olivia DeWan released and fired to hit the back of the net. DeWan came back again but this time in the second period and nailed her second goal of the game.

  • Then, before the end of the first half, BCE didn't let up on the attack and cruised to a third goal scored by junior Autumn Just. The Eagles finished the half with 13 shots.

  • In the third period, it was all Eagles dominating on the offensive end, which would result in a penalty during a scoring chance. Senior Emily Tyler solidified the fourth goal off the penalty.

  • The shots did not stop from BCE's side, lasering 10 shots at net in the final period, the most in the game. Daphne Daymude and Kiley Parker would round out the scoring, amounting to six goals on the night.

Game Notes

  • DeWan scored two goals making that a career high.

  • Daymude tallied a goal totaling seven on the season remaining a team high.
