BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's tennis team concluded it's fall season with a 6-1 loss to Southern Virginia on Thursday.
The Knights opened up play by sweeping the lone doubles point due to the new ITA rule changes taking away some of the team element of the match. The Eagles had equal scorelines at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots as
Matthew Leonard and
Corey Beshoar fell at the top spot and
Cameron Cooley and
Coree Nicely fell 3-6 at the No. 3 spot.
Singles action featured battles all over the courts. Beshoar got the Eagles on the board as he waltzed his way to a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the No. 3 slot. Both Leonard and Nicely dropped the opening set of their matches rather quickly, but regrouped in the second. Leonard went down by a 2-6, 4-6 line at the top spot, while Nicely was put away 1-6, 4-6 at No. 6.
The Eagles wrap up the fall season and will be back in action in February to begin the spring portion of the schedule.
