Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Eagles Soar Past Lebanon Valley and York (Pa.) in Tri-Match at York

YORK, Pa. - Bridgewater College women's volleyball grabbed a pair of wins at the Tri-Match Invitational at York (Pa.) with three-set victories against Lebanon Valley and York Saturday afternoon.

The Basics

Score: Bridgewater (BCE) 3, Lebanon Valley (LVC) 0

            Bridgewater (BCE) 3, York 0

Records: BCE (18-6 Overall), LV (13-11 Overall), York (8-16 Overall)

How It Happened

Vs. Lebanon Valley

  • BCE's 14 kills in the first set would set the tone for the rest of the match. A five-point streak early in the first set allowed the Eagles to find their sweet spot through their attacking ways without letting up the lead the whole way through the set. BCE took the set, 25-18.

  • As the Eagles limited their attack errors, the Flying Dutchmen played into errors putting them at a critical disadvantage. BCE got off to another fast start with another consecutove streak for five points. LVC would not catch up to BCE's strong momentum wrapping up the second set 25-17.

  • BCE found themselves battling in the third set fighting off two strong scoring surges from LVC, but the Eagles quickly weathered the kills and fired back with a late five-point streak and then a three-point streak to nail down the final set score of 25-19.

Vs. York (Pa.)

  • The Eagles went right back to where they left off in the first match on the day with an early scoring surge and as they started strong, they ended strong with a four-point streak and a first set score of 25-13.

  • The eight-point streak early in the second set overpowered any offensive attack York threw at the Eagles. BCE managed to close out the set efficiently and effectively with a commanding two-set lead and a set score of 25-19.

  • The early scoring surges would be the dagger to York's offensive play and the defense would not keep up. York worked to tie the score up halfway through the set at 15 apiece, but the four-point scoring surge helped the Eagles land the victory with a 25-17 final set score.

Match Notes

  • Bridgewater combined for a massive total of 75 kills from the two matches played to a total of 56 kills for both opponents, respectively.

  • Sophomore Reagan Stoop shined in both matches combining for a total of 26 kills, the kills leader for the Eagles.

  • Senior Rachael Meyers stayed strong up high at net blocking three against York.
