Â
The BasicsÂ
Â
Final Score: Bridgewater 5, William Peace 1
Records: Bridgewater 3-0-0, William Peace 0-1-1
Â
How it HappenedÂ
- Â Bridgewater stepped on the gas right away as Riley Queen fired a shot on goal just over a minute in, but Tripp Kidd turned it aside. Queen found the ball in his possession again a short time later and found fellow freshman Gavin Kast who fired a shot on goal and to the nylon to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead under five minutes in. Â
- The Eagles continued to maintain pressure and much of the possession in the physical contest before William Peace had a dangerous opportunity with a free kick just beyond the box. Ethan Gillette took the kick for the Pacers and sent the ball into the box where it was tapped in by the chest of Jose Martinez and into the back of the net evening the game at 1-1. BC wasted no time, precisely 1:12, getting back in front. Dicarlo Peredo-Torrico found Lestath Savage sneaking into the back line and the reigning ODAC Player of the Week chipped a shot up and over Kidd and into the goal to give Bridgewater a 2-1 advantage late in the first half.
- Less than four minutes into the second frame Trey Widrick sent a ball across the box to Queen and just like Savage chipped a shot up and over the Pacer defense and in to make it 3-1.
- Widrick wanted in on the scoring action, and got there with some flair. Peredo-Torrico took a free kick for the Eagles from the far sie just across the midfield stripe and sent it towards the box. Widrick planted his left foot and flipped up his right foot over his head and buried the feed from Peredo-Torrico to make it 4-1.
- The Eagles put the cherry on top on another set-piece opportunity as Luis Orduna took a free kick about a foot outside the box. Orduna's try found the crease where Kidd blocked it with his hands, but John Meier flew in and pounded the rebound into the back of the net to make it 5-1 with 12 minutes left to play.
Match NotesÂ
- Savage found the back of the net for his fourth goal in the Eagles first three games. The junior also has the game-winning goal in all three of the Bridgewater victories in 2023.Â
- Danny Romanchok led all players with four total shots for William Peace. Widrick, Queen and Marvin Perez all registered two shots for BC.
- Charles Schweinefuss made two stops on the three shots he faced despite allowing his first goal of the season. Kidd made three saves on eight shots faced.
- Bridgewater held a slight 12-9 advantage in shots and held a 17-9 edge in free kicks.
