How it Happened
  • The Hornets had a chance early as Chris Wiley got a shot off, but it was blocked by a BC defender. Following a free kick, Wiley had another opportunity but missed this one wide. Lynchburg tallied two more shots before finally getting one on target in the 24th minute that was turned aside by Charles Schweinefuss.
  • The Eagles flipped the field following the save and tallied their first shot as Marvin Perez got a look but missed wide of the cage. Lynchburg worked back down the pitch following the shot leading to a pair of corner kicks just shy of the 30-minute mark. The first attempt did not muster a shot, but the Hornets had a dangerous look during the second attempt that was turned away by Schweinefuss. Bridgewater worked the pitch following the flurry of Hornet chances and created a few of their own. Off a corner kick, Nash Barbuto headed a shot on target past the Hornet keeper that was cleared off the goal line by a defender to keep the game scoreless heading to the half.
  • Lynchburg worked a scoring chance early in the second half, but Schweinefuss once again turned it aside. The Eagles flipped the field and Cole Dunbar had an opportunity but missed his shot wide of the frame. Lynchburg counter-attacked and did much of the same as two Hornet shots missed the target.
  • The Hornets threatened in the 80th minute by virtue of a free kick. The home side got a shot off as a header was blocked once more by the BC back line to set up a corner kick. On the corner Cesar Acosta sent a ball in and after a few deflections Trevor Miller found the back of the net for Lynchburg to give the Hornets the first score of the contest with under 10 minutes to play. Lynchburg had a few more scoring chances down the stretch, but nothing came of it. Bridgewater worked quickly in the final minute and Riley Queen had a chance, but his shot was blocked just before the horn.

Match Notes
  • Miller's goal was his first of the season for the Hornets.
  • Barbuto, Dunbar, Perez and Queen all registered a shot for BC while 12 different Hornets tallied one in the category.
  • Schweinefuss made five saves for Bridgewater while Thomas Viscuso did not make a save on the one shot on net he faced.
