Bridgewater's Season Comes to a Close in ODAC Quarterfinals

WINCHESTER, Va.—The No. 6 seed Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team's season came to an end in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament at No. 3 seed, Shenandoah, at Aikens Stadium on Tuesday night.

Records: Bridgewater, 10-9, Shenandoah 12-6
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Hornets raced out to a 5-0 lead just five minutes into the game that forced a Bridgewater timeout. Shenandoah continued to score as it led 10-0 after the opening 15 minutes. Shenandoah added three more in the second quarter to go into the half with a 13-0 advantage.
  •  The home side was able to add a few more goals to its tally before a free-position shot resulted in the first goal of the game for BC out of the stick of Jenna Entsminger. The Hornets tacked on one more and led 16-1 after three quarters.
  •  Lauren Roberts got the Eagles on the board in the fourth quarter, while Kaity Petersheim scored but the goal was waved off after a foul was called. The Hornets outscored BC 3-1 in the final quarter to get a 19-2 win. 
GAME STATS
  • Entsminger scored the first goal for the Eagles and led the team with six shots with five of those being on goal
  • Roberts scored a goal, which gave her 60 on the season, which just the eighth time a player has reached that plateau in team history.
  • Rachael Robinson set a new season high with 16 saves. 
  • Grace Pietro caused a turnover, while Roberts led the team with six draw controls. Pertersheim also grabbed four draws, as well. 
  • Emily Dell picked up a ground ball as did Roberts and Pietro.
  • Ashley MacFarlane made seven saves in all 60 minutes in the win.
UP NEXT
Bridgewater's season comes to an end with a 10-9 record. Shenandoah advances in the tournament to face the second-seeded No. 16 Roanoke on Friday, May 5 at 1 pm.
