BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- The Bridgewater College baseball team dropped a pair of games to No. 12 Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon.

Final Score: Game 1: Randolph-Macon 13, Bridgewater 2; Game 2: Randolph-Macon 16, Bridgewater 4
Records: Bridgewater 12-19 (5-8 ODAC); No. 12 Randolph-Macon 22-5 (11-2 ODAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One
- The Yellow Jackets got on the board immediately with a leadoff single and then a two-run blast from Aaron Lautenschlager to give the visitors a 2-0 lead before an out had been recorded. The Yellow Jackets tagged one more on in the frame to extend the lead to 3-0. Brett Tharp tried to spark the Eagles in the home half of the frame with a single up the middle, but he was left stranded along with Hunter Clever who reached on an error.
- R-MC extended the lead with a sacrifice fly in the third and BC responded yet again as Tharp and Brandan Hartman reached but the duo was left stranded. The Yellow Jackets added on to the lead with two runs in the fourth and another in the fifth to make it a 7-0 advantage.
- Jarret Biesecker extended his career hitting mark in the bottom of the fifth with two gone. Hartman dug in after Tharp walked and delivered with a single through the left side to score the Eagles leadoff man and get BC on the board.
- Randolph-Macon added a run in the sixth and then tagged on five more in the top of the ninth to make it 13-1.
- Bridgewater got back on the board in the bottom of the ninth as Luke Olimpio single to right field with two men on bringing Luke Tomajczyk in to score, but the damage had already been done.
GAME STATS
- Tharp showed out in game one with a 2-for-3 effort along with a walk.
- Hartman and Tharp combined for four of the Eagles nine hits in the game one loss.
- Joe Christopher and Caleb Penner each turned in good relief efforts for BC down the stretch. Each righty tossed a scoreless inning of work.
- Hayden Snelsire picked up his sixth win for Randolph-Macon on the season after striking out seven over 5.0 innings.
- Matt Myers tallied a 3-for-5 performance in game one for the Yellow Jackets.
Game Two
- Randolph-Macon hopped on the board in the top of the first with a two-run single. Tharp got on base again in the top of the first and was left stranded once more.
- After six consecutive outs from Nick Harris the Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the third as Biesecker singled and Tharp took matters into his own hands with a high fly to right that cleared the wall for a two-run homerun to tie the game.
- R-MC hopped back in front with a sacrifice fly but consecutive RBI base knocks from Kyle Carlson and Biesecker in the bottom half of the fourth gave BC its first lead of the day at 4-3.
- The Yellow Jackets hopped back in front with a huge top of the fifth capped off by a Hunter Cole blast to right field making it 7-4 for the visitors. R-MC tagged on runs in the sixth, eighth and ninth innings to push it's lead to 16-4.
- BC led off the bottom of the ninth with consecutive singles from Tomajczyk and Isaiah Blanks but were unable to get the runners in.
GAME STATS
- Hartman extended his streak to 29 straight games that he has reached base safely. The junior has reached base in all but one game this season.
- Isaac Sumpter went 3-for-4 in game two and scored a run. Tharp, Biesecker and Hartman all turned in multi-hit performances in game two.
- Tanner Ray and Penner each tossed scoreless outings in game two. Penner tossed his second straight scoreless inning of work but did surrender a hit.
- The bullpen for Randolph-Macon did not allow a run down the stretch and allowed only six hits.
