BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's lacrosse team dropped a 26-11 contest against Roanoke on Senior Day at the Jopson Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Maroons opened up a 3-0 lead in the opening five minutes of the game. Drew Huber netted a man-up goal off an assist from Connor McLean to cut the lead down to 3-1. Less than a minute later, Luke Kammerman scored to give RC a 4-1 lead but Gabriel Alexander won the ensuing faceoff and sprinted down field to score to make it 4-2. The Maroons added two more to end the first quarter with a 6-2 lead.
- Roanoke scored the first five goals of the second quarter to take an 11-2 lead with 2:23 to go. Riley Stewart ended the scoring run with a goal at the 1:47 mark but Noah Goad scored once more with 30 seconds left in the half as the visitors held a 12-3 lead at the break.
- Another five goal stretch for the Maroons started the second half before a Huber goal at the 6:03 mark made it 17-4. Following another RC goal, Chris Martel got a pass from Hunter Russell to add on another goal to make it 18-5. Alexander and Luke Wendler scored in the quarter but the Maroons held a 21-7 lead going into the final 15 minutes.
- Following a goal by Roanoke 20 seconds into the quarter, Martel recorded a goal off a pass from McLean and Colby Smith tallied a score with a helper from McLean, as well. McLean found the back of the net himself with five minutes left in the game and Huber completed his hat trick with a goal at the 3:09 mark in a man-up situation to close out the scoring in the game.
GAME STATS
- Huber had his best game of the season thus far with five points off three goals and two assists. He also snagged two ground balls.
- Alexander and Martel both scored twice, while McLean also had five points on a goal and four assists.
- Wendler, Smith and Stewart also registered points.
- Alexander won 19 faceoffs and picked up 19 ground balls in the loss.
- Martel, and Russell each caused two turnovers, while Ryan Addison, Michael Long, Tyler Carney, Aidan Anderson and Josh Goodwin all caused one.
- Carney had five ground balls and made 16 saves in 59 minutes in net. Liam Hunter entered to play the final moments in the cage.
- Roanoke outshot Bridgewater 69-30 and had a 57-44 edge in ground balls.
