HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Mary Baldwin got on the board first in the top of the opening frame as Michael Robertson drew a walk and advanced all the way to third off of an error on a pick-off attempt. A ground ball to right side allowed Robertson to score, giving MBU a 1-0 lead.
  • Bridgewater quickly loaded the bases in the home side of the inning and Lucas Bauer hit a hard ground ball to the third baseman who did not make the play cleanly allowing for Jarrett Biesecker and Brandan Hartman to score and give BC a 2-1 advantage.
  • Nick Harris got the start for BC and, after allowing the unearned run in the first, settled in and only allowed two base runners in his final four innings of work and just one base hit.
  • The Eagles gave Harris some more run support in the third as Bauer led the inning off with a double and later scored on a wild pitch. Camden Herron doubled to deep left field allowing for Timothy Hopson to score as well in the inning, giving BC a 4-1 edge.
  • In the fifth inning, Bridgewater tagged on four more. Bauer scored on another wild pitch and a Biesecker infield hit allowed for Jonathan Sexton to touch the plate. The RBI leader for BC coming in, Hartman, came to the dish next with the bases jammed and singled to left field pushing another pair of runs across extending the Bridgewater lead to 8-1.
  • Bowe Rogers got the call from the bullpen in relief of Harris in the top of the sixth. Rogers allowed the leadoff man aboard on a base hit but recovered and got out of the inning unscathed. BC gave Rogers another pair of runs in the bottom half of the frame as Bauer scored again, this time on a fielder's choice, and Sexton came home on a sacrifice fly out by Herron.
  • Rogers returned to the hill in the seventh and struck out the side before he got four more runs to work with thanks to a Hopson RBI single and a base clearing single by Herron.
