Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's tennis team fell to Virginia Wesleyan 6-3 on Friday afternoon in conference play.
Emily Wylie and
Emily Daigneault teamed up for a 8-4 win at the No. 3 spot, but VWU took the match at the top spot to level the team score.
Malena Hoover and
Grace Knighton battled at the No. 2 spot and a hold at-love by Hoover forced a tiebreak at 7-7. The Eagles duo fell behind early in the breaker and saved a pair of match points before falling 7-8(5).
Knighton picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 4 spot and
Ryan Roeber picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win at the No. 5 spot.
Wylie dropped the opening set 4-6 on court six, before storming back and taking the second set 6-0 to force a match tiebreak. The junior battled in the breaker but ultimately fell 8-10.
BC is back in action on Sunday at Ferrum. Action is set to start at 1 p.m.
