Bridgewater Picks Up Third Straight Win in Rout of Goucher

TOWSON, Md. -- The Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team earned its third straight victory after defeating Goucher 18-4 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Madeline Magill and Aunnie Hacker connected for the first goal of the contest at the 10:03 mark of the first quarter before the Eagles tallied two more goals in less than two minutes with a strike from Lauren Roberts and a second Hacker-to-Magill connection, 3-0. Kaity Petersheim added a fourth goal before Jenna Entsminger made it 5-0 to end the opening 15 minutes.
  • Kena Gresham got a pass from Faith Bartos to start off the second quarter and then Bartos found the back of the net less than a minute later to put the Eagles up 7-0.Petersheim scored off the draw just 20 seconds later to push the lead to 8-0 to start off the contest. Goucher got on the board as Katherine Luetgens tallied a score off a pass from Amaya Locke to make it 8-1, but Roberts responded with another goal minutes later before Ashley Venit put the team up 10-1 going into the break.
  • Starting off the second half, Kelli Mullen recorded her first collegiate goal as the senior got a feed from Hacker for the score. Petersheim completed her hat trick for the day with a third goal of the afternon at the 11:33 mark of the period, while Roberts notched her 12th goal in the last three days with just under nine and a half minutes left in the third quarter. Kate Kebrich cut the lead down to 13-2, but Entsminger scored to maintain a 12-goal advantage. Annika Benson found the back of the net with five minutes to go in the third as Entsminger picked up a hat-trick goal at 1:25 in a man-up situation following a yellow card. 
  • the Gophers got another one back in the fourth but goals from Grace Pietro and Miranda Coleman kept the BC advantage and led to an 18-4 victory.
GAME STATS
  • Petersheim, Roberts and Entsminger all recorded hat tricks in the win, while Petersheim added an assist for a four-point day.
  • Magill scored twice and had an assist and Hacker had three assists in the win.
  • Bartos, Venit, Pietro, Benson, Mullen, Gresham and Coleman also recorded points in the victory.
  • Bartos snagged five draw controls, while Roberts, Magill and Caris Cianelli grabbed three each.
  • Roberts moves into second place in program history with 156 career draw controls.
  • Roberts, Magill, Livy Daniels and Olivia Lawrence all caused a pair of turnovers, while Bartos, Venit, Mullen, Petersheim, Coleman, Aubrey Beale and Julia Mohler recorded one CT.
  • Tavin Krick led the way with two ground balls. 
  • Rachael Robinson made four saves in all 60 minutes between the pipes.
  • Bridgewater outshot the Gophers 33-12 and held a 11-10 edge in ground balls. 
  • This is Bridgewater's third straight win and fourth on the year. Ironically, the Eagles have scored 18 goals in every victory this season.
