BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College baseball team rallied from a three-run deficit on its way to a 10-7 win against SUNY Oneonta at the Bridgewater Baseball Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The visitors got on the board first in the early going as Sean Liquori drilled a three-run homer to right field to put the Red Dragons up 3-0.
- Bridgewater scratched one run across home plate in the third inning as Lucas Bauer singled to lead off the inning and moved on an error. Jarret Biesecker dropped down a sacrifice bunt, but the throw to first ended up out of play as Bauer was allowed to score from third, 3-1.
- Bauer came up big again in the following inning as he crushed a two run home run to right-center field to tie the game at 3-3.
- Jeffrey Snider led off the fifth with a double and moved to third on a ground out before scoring on a Collin Reid RBI double to give BC its first lead of the afternoon, 4-3. That lead was short lived as the New York school tallied three runs on four hits to assume a 6-4 lead after six innings. The visitors added one more in the seventh to set the score at 7-4, while Devin Rooney got out of a jam in the home half of the frame as he stranded the bases loaded after striking out three Eagles with runners in scoring position.
- The eighth inning was the game's difference maker as Kyle Carlson started it all off with a walk before going to second on a single by Bauer. Ben Anderson stepped in to pinch hit and delivered a single to load the bases with no outs. Biesecker drew a bases-loaded walk to draw in a run and force a pitching change. Brandon Hartman fought back from down 0-2 in the count to also earn a walk with the bases juiced to make the score 7-6. Reid delivered once again as he laced a two-run single into right field followed by a Jonathan Sexton two-run double to center as the Eagles went ahead 10-7.
- Brett Tharp entered the game in the top of the ninth and shut down Oneonta for his first save of the 2023 campaign.
GAME STATS
- Bauer took advantage of his first start of the season with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate including a double and a home run, three runs scored and two RBI.
- Reid came up clutch twice with two hits and three RBI in the win.
- Anthony Foglia went 3-for-4 at the dish and scored two runs, while Greg Bandura tallied the only other multi-hit game for the Red Dragons.
- Freshman Connor Smith started on the bump for the Eagles going 4.1 innings and yielding three runs on three hits. Nick Griffin tossed the eighth inning and scattered just one hit to get his first win of the season, while Tharp shut down the visitors in the ninth for the save.
- Kyle Roper started for Oneonta going 4.0 innings with three runs (2 ER) on three hits and two walks, while Rooney had an impressive outing of 3.0 relief innings with just two hits, one run and six strikeouts. James Torres did not record an out and was strapped with the loss after allowing four runs on two hits and a pair of walks.
