Men's Basketball Earns Sixth Seed in ODAC Championships

FOREST, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's basketball team has earned the No. 6 seed for the upcoming ODAC Tournament.

The Eagles earned their spot after a 8-8 finish in conference play and a 13-12 overall record. By virtue of earning a top-six finish in the regular season standings, BC advances straight to Salem for the first time since the 2008-09 season. Bridgewater finished that campaign with a 15-12 record and 10-6 in conference play.

BC will battle the third seed, No. 14 Guilford, on Friday night at 8 p.m. The two clashed in the ODAC opener for each side back on Nov. 26. Guilford picked up a 58-41 victory in Nininger Hall thanks to a double-double from Tyler Dearman. Will Dunlap led BC in scoring with 10 points and led the team in minutes along with Shod Smith.

Defending conference and national champion No. 2 Randolph-Macon earned the top seed after not dropping a game in conference play for a second straight year. R-MC will open Friday's slate of games against either Averett or Ferrum. Those two will battle in an opening round matchup on Tuesday night.

No. 17 Hampden-Sydney earned the second seed and awaits the winner of the other opening round contest between Virginia Wesleyan and Shenandoah.

The final quarterfinal features the four-five matchup between Roanoke and Washington and Lee in the second game of the day on Friday.

All matchups from the quarterfinals on are scheduled to take place at the Salem Civic Center.
