Records: Bridgewater 8-5-0 (3-3-0 ODAC), Averett 4-8-2 (1-5-0 ODAC)
How it Happened
- Both teams had chances early but neither put shots near the target. Resulting in plenty of goal kicks in the opening nine minutes. The 10th minute is where the scoring opened on a BC corner kick. Katherine King took it and found Hannah England and for the second time in a matter of games a freshman tandem combined for a goal making it 1-0 Eagles.
- Lyric Birkley had an opportunity to extend the lead a few minutes later but her shot was scooped up by Tiia Chrons. Chrons was tested heavily in the 18th minute as a BC free kick led to shots on goal by Laura Narby and Hannah Nugent that were both turned away by the Cougars' keeper. The 22nd minute saw the Eagles on the front foot again and this time a foul in the box awarded BC a penalty kick. Coach Mike Van Horn went with Birkley and she buried it to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead midway through the opening frame. BC had chances to extend the leading heading to the half with shots by Kaitlyn Seagraves and Madeline Bohan but neither found the back of the net.
- No earlier than the second half started Skyler Daum had a shot on goal that was saved by Chrons. Narby followed suit three minutes later as a diving effort on the stop kept it just a two-goal game. After Daum was held without a shot in the opening half the senior got on the board in the 54th minute as she buried her shot from head on to make it 3-0. Birkley looked to push the BC dvantage further three minutes later, but her shot was spoiled by Chrons. The sophomore would not be denied her second tally of the night as she eventually buried her shot at the 61-minute mark after a nice pass from Daum making it 4-0.
- Averett looked to get something going after the goal, but the run passed the end line giving BC a goal kick. After an AU free kick BC flipped the field. England found Madeline Bohan and she got in the scoring column as her shot found nylon to make it 5-0 BC.
- The Cougars had a scoring opportunity in the 74th minute but the first AU shot missed wide of the crease. Four minutes later Bridgewater had a corner kick and King looked to bend in her second corner-kick goal of the year, but a save by Chrons spoiled the scoring chance. The Eagles added one more goal in the 80th minute as Anna Zurlo found Taylor Thomas open in the box and the sophomore scored for the first time on the season to make it 6-0 and seal the deal.
