BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- A trio of Bridgewater College men's basketball players finished with 17 points as the Eagles walked away with a 91-82 victory against Lynchburg in Nininger Hall on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Liam Caswell got the scoring started in the contest with a layup less than a minute into the game as Andy Pack delivered a driving layup to double the lead to 4-0 with 18:39 on the clock. Trey Pittman got the Hornets on the board, but Pack responded with a three-pointer to put the Eagles up 7-2 two minutes into the first half.
- Landon Sutton hit a three - one of 17 threes for Lynchburg on the night - to start off a run for the Hornets as they cut the lead down to 12-10 with just under 16 minutes on the clock. The next three baskets went the way of BC as Aaron Oates capped the stretch with a pull-up jumper to push the home side up 18-10.Â
- The visitors worked the deficit down over the next several minutes as Lynchburg trailed 24-21 with 8:21 left in the opening half, but Pack dropped in another three to maintain a six-point advantage. Once again, the visitors worked the score back to a three-point game after a Sutton layup with 4:30 left in the half to make the score 34-31 in favor of BC. The Eagles mounted a 12-4 run, including five points from Shod Smith over the final five minutes to take a 46-35 lead into halftime.
- Both sides exchanged scores through the first several minutes of the second half until Aaron Oates entered the game and led the Eagles to an 11-3 run over two-and-a-half minutes of play as he made all three of his field goal attempts and drained all four of his shots from the charity stripe as Oates capped the stretch with a three to make the score 65-49.Â
- The sides traded baskets over the next five minutes of play as Bridgewater maintained an extended lead. A three from Elijah Davis cut the lead down to 12 points with five minutes left in regulation, followed by a layup from Trey Pittman to make it a 10-point game. The Eagles responded with a basket by Joseph Crenshaw to stall a run as both teams once again went back-and-forth. A last-second three from Jayson Easton put the Hornets back within 10 points at 91-82, but BC walked away with a win.
MATCH FACTS
- Landon Hawes, Oates and Smith all finished with 17 points, while Hawes grabbed nine rebounds and Oates finished with eight boards of his own. Smith's statline for the evening saw him make 8-of-10 free throws and drain 4-of-9 shots from the floor to go with three rebounds, four assists and four steals.
- Alex Topped pitched in 11 points in 28 minutes off the bench to go with six rebounds and four assists, while Pack tallied 10 point son 4-of-5 shooting in just six minutes of action.
- Caswell registered nine points and seven rebounds in the win, as well.
- For Lynchburg, Davis finished with a game-high 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field, including a game-high five three-pointers. Sutton and Easton each registered double-figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Piercen Young finished with a game-high 10 boards as he also scored eight points. Miles Taylor finished the night with five points, five assists and a pair of rebounds in the loss.
- Bridgewater held a 42-32 edge in rebounds, while getting 38 points off the bench and turned 18 Lynchburg turnovers into 18 points.
- As a team, BC shot an even 50.0 percent from the floor (28-56) compared to 41.4 percent (29-70) from the Hornets.
