Eagles Blank Panthers

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater men's soccer team picked up their second win of the season over Ferrum 3-0 on Saturday

How It Happened
  • In the 15th minute the Eagles were able to capitalize off of their early pressure. Senior James Yeboah fired a shot that was saved by Ferrum goal keeper Daniel Golden. Off of the rebound senior Trevon Phillips tried to sneak a shot past Golden, but the Panther keeper was able to get a piece of it before Phillips buried the ensuing rebound for a goal putting BC ahead 1-0. 
  • A little less than three minutes later the Eagles made a run. Vincent Marra carried the ball up the far sideline and sent a cross into the box just out of the reach of Eric Ramirez . Phillips got a piece of the pass and found the back of the net for the second time on the day putting Bridgewater in front 2-0.
  • Ferrum earned an opportunity late in the first half after Zach Jarvis received a yellow card the Panthers had a free kick from just beyond the box. The kick was deflected by the Eagles defense before Leo Galpin took the rebound and missed over the cross bar on the best the chance the Panthers had up to that point.
  • In the 54th minute Ramirez made a run up the near side line and spun his way around two Panther defenders before sending a cross towards the goal mouth. Freshman Daniel Shulgan headed the cross into the net to extend the BC lead to 3-0.
  • Ferrum had a few chances in the second half, but only put one shot on net in the 77th minute tht senior keeper Tyler Deutsch turned away.
Match Notes
  • Phillips netted two goals for the Eagles marking the second straight game BC has had multi-goal scorers.
  • Marra and Ramirez each picked up their first assists of the season in the victory.
  • The Eagles out shot the Panthers 12-8 in total and 8-3 in shots on goal
  • Ferrum led the Eagles in corner kicks as the Panthers tallied seven but were unable to find the back of the net.
  • Duetsch picks up his second win of the year in goal marking his first multi-win season of his career
