Box Score ASHLAND, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's tennis teamed opened its fall season with a strong showing at Randolph-Macon.
The Eagles took on both Randolph-Macon and St. Mary's (Md.) during the day in a round robin format.Â
BC took all three of its doubles matches against St. Mary's. The senior duo of
Emma Nesselrodt and
Malena Hoover picked up a commanding 8-3 win.Â
Grace Knighton and
Emily Wylie added a 8-3 win of their own over the Seahawks.
Emily Daigneault and
Kaci Pitsenbarger battled in their match against St. Mary's. The duo found themselves trailing 2-5 towards the business end of the pro-set before battling back to force a tie break and pickup the win 8-7.
In singles action, Daigneault was locked in a battle with Hannah Gorel of St. Mary's before picking up a 8-6 victory. Knighton also found herself in a tight match against the Seahawks but fell 6-8 to Sydney Anderson. Nesselrodt was also in a battle with Camilla Thurman of Randolph-Macon but came up a service break short 5-8.
The Eagles will be back in action on on Sep. 23-25 for the ITA Southeast Regional that will be hosted by Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va.
