NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Bridgewater College field hockey team started off the 2022 season against No. 16 Christopher Newport on the road, falling by a 6-0 count on Thursday night.

How It Happened
  • The Captains scored early after finding the back of the cage in the third minute of the contest before going up a pair of goals at the 7:42 mark of the game as CNU held a 2-0 advantage after the first quarter.
  • The home side added on another two goals as the halftime score read 4-0 in favor of Christopher Newport.
  • The Captains, who advanced to the NCAA Tournament a season ago, picked up one more goal in the third and the fourth periods, each, to walk away with a 6-0 victory to open the season.
