SALEM, Va. -- The Bridgewater College men's lacrosse team dropped a 19-14 decision to Roanoke in ODAC play on Wednesday night.

The Basics

  • Final Score: Bridgewater 14, Roanoke 19
  • Records: Bridgewater 7-5, 2-3 ODAC; Roanoke 8-4, 4-1 ODAC

How It Happened

  • Roanoke scored the game's first goal with 11:45 left in the first quarter, but Trevor McClelland tied the contest less than 20 seconds later with an assist from Connor McLean.
  • The Maroons tallied the next three goals and assumed a 4-1 lead with just under 10 minutes in the period.
  • The Eagles went on a three-goal run of their own with scores from Hayden Gourley, McClelland and Sam Homick to tied the game at 4-4 with 4:22 on the clock.
  • Roanoke again went on a three-goal run to retake the lead, 7-4, as Chris Martel and Homick each scored to cut the lead to 7-6.
  • A back-and-forth second quarter saw Roanoke outscore BC 5-4 and move ahead 12-9 at halftime.
  • The Maroons picked up another two goals in the third quarter to moe ahead 14-9 as Bridgewater scored four of the next five goals to trim the deficit to 15-13 heading into the final period of play. 
  • The Eagles were held to just one goal in the fourth quarter via Lucas Johnson from Korey Polo as the Maroons held on for a 19-14 finish.

Match Notes

  • McClelland and Homick each finished with four goals to lead the way offensively.
  • McLean tallied two goals and three assists to finish with a five-point performance. 
  • Gabriel Alexander led the team with eight ground balls, while Ryan Addison picked up three and Homick, Josh Goodwin, McLean, Trent Cheyney and Grant Nyland all had two apiece.
  • Grayson Rech finished with two ground balls as well to go along with three caused turnovers. Goodwin also finished with three caused turnovers.
  • Robbie Noyes recorded a career-high 19 saves in the loss. 
  • The home side outshot the Eagles 58-38 and held a 49-26 edge in ground balls.

  • The Eagles return to action on Saturday, April 9, for an ODAC contest against Guilford at the Jopson Athletic Complex. The game is set to begin at 1 pm.
