Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team fell to Virginia Wesleyan 8-1 on Monday in conference action.
The Marlins took all three of the doubles points but not without resistance. At the top spot, senior Canon Secord and freshman Matthew Leonard battled going ahead a break of serve, but ultimately fell 6-8.
At the two spot freshman Mark Gordon and sophomore Gabe Elder fell 3-8 while Matthew Gordon and Noah Hughes fell 3-8 as well at the No. 3 slot.
In singles action the bright spot came at the top of the ladder as Secord added another win to his tally with a 6-2, 6-0 win.
At the No. 3 spot Gordon was locked into a first set battle, but ultimately fell 5-7, 0-6.
Leonard also found himself in a battle at the five spot fighting off multiple match points but lost 4-6, 6-7(7).
It will be a quick turnaround for the Eagles as they will be back in action on Wednesday in the final match of the regular season at Randolph. Action is set to start at 3:00 p.m.
