BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College baseball team fell to No. 24 Shenandoah in conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

 The Basics

• Final Score: Bridgewater – 1, Shenandoah – 5
• Records: Bridgewater (21-13, 8-7 ODAC); Shenandoah (24-8-1, 10-4-1 ODAC)

How It Happened

• Shenandoah began the game scoring one run in the top of the first on a Kyle Lisa RBI single.
• From there, dominant pitching took over the game. Bridgewater starter Hunter Clever went 6.1 innings and didn't give up a run after the first inning. Shenandoah's starter Calvin Pastel also went 6.1 innings on the mound and didn't let up a run.
• The Hornets broke the game open in the top of the ninth scoring four times to make their lead 5-0.
• The Eagles kept fighting in their last at bats in the bottom of the ninth. Brett Tharp walked, and Jeffrey Snider followed him up with a single to right field pushing Tharp to third. Kevin Navedo grounded out to the third but drove in Tharp on the play giving the Eagles some life, but the rally came up short as they would fall 5-1.

Match Notes

• Clever's 6.1 IP is a season high for him. The junior also struck out three batters. Tharp followed him in relief with 2.2 innings.
• Jacob Grabeel and Clever each had two hits.
• Navedo earned the the lone RBI.

• The Eagles will be back in action this Saturday, April 23 for a home doubleheader vs. Guilford. Action is set for noon.
