BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College baseball team dropped a non-conference game this afternoon to Christopher Newport.

 The Basics

• Final Score: Bridgewater – 5, Christopher Newport – 17
• Records: Bridgewater (20-11, 7-5 ODAC); Christopher Newport (21-8, 2-0 C2c)

How It Happened

• The Captains opened the first half frame with a two-run homer from Justin Bowers. Bridgewater answered back in the bottom half of the inning scoring one run of its own. Kevin Navedo drove a ball deep down the left field line for a single. Brett Tharp reached on an error and Camden Herron singled to right field to load the bases. Tristan Gordon worked a walk to make the score 2-1 after one inning.
• In the third inning, Jeffrey Snider tripled and was driven in on a Kevin Navedo sac fly. Hunter Clever followed up Navedo with a double to left field and Clever was knocked in on an RBI double to center field from Tharp. After three innings the Eagles led 3-2.
• A five run fifth inning from CNU broke the game open to make it 8-3 after five. The Captains would score once more in the sixth, eight in the eighth and one in the ninth to go up 17-3.
• Navedo trimmed Christopher Newport's lead with a two-run homer in the ninth, but the Eagles would fall 17-5.

Match Notes

• Robbie Stoss started on the mound for BC and went two innings. Elijah Dunlap followed pitching 1.2. Ryan Costello followed Dunlap with 0.1 innings. Bowe Rogers pitched two, Evan Gagne 1.2, Jared Peake 0.1 and Bryce Masters finished with one inning.
• Stoss, Rogers and Gagne each had two strikeouts.
• Navedo went 2-3 with three RBIs and scored two runs.
• Snider went 2-5 and scored two runs.
