Box Score 2 SALEM, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's tennis team picked up a 7-2 win over Roanoke on Friday afternoon in conference action.
The Eagles got out in front 2-1 during the doubles action with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.
In singles action junior Malena Hoover picked up a 6-3, 7-5 win at the top spot.
Graduate student Rachel Crawford relied on her consistency as she pulled out a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 3 spot.
Junior Emma Nesselrodt dropped the opening set 2-6 and trailed in portions of the second set but rallied taking the second in a tiebreak 7-6(6). The Mt. Crawford, Va. native took that momentum and cruised through the decider 6-1 to take the match at the No. 4 spot.
Sophomore Ryan Roeber added a 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 5 spot and freshman Grace Knighton added a 6-3, 6-0 win at the No. 6 spot to round out action.
Bridgewater also finished up a previously postponed match with Hollins from March 16 that was haulted in singles due to rain. BC swept Hollins in doubles play, highlighted by an Emily Wylie and Kaci Pitsenbarger 8-0 win.
Nesselrodt won in the No. 3 slot 6-0, 6-0, Knighton in the No. 5 flight 6-0, 6-1 and Wylie in the No.6 slot 6-1, 6-0.
The Eagles will be back in action on Sunday, April 10 to host Lynchburg at 2 p.m.
