Women's Lacrosse Falls to Shenandoah

BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- The Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team fell to Shenandoah, 19-6, in nonconference action at the Jopson Athletic Complex on Friday night.

The Basics

How It Happened

  • In front of a Bleed Crimson crowd, the Eagles got on the board first as Kaity Petersheim struck the back of the net less than a minute into the contest as BC took a 1-0 lead.
  • Shenandoah went on a 3-0 scoring run to take a 3-1 advantage after the first 15 minutes.
  • Petersheim scored again to start off the second quarter with over 14 minutes to go in the half.
  • The Hornets stretched their lead to 8-2 before Madeline Magill took a pass from Aunnie Hacker to get the Eagles back on the board, but SU netted three more goals to take an 11-3 lead into halftime.
  • Shenandoah, who are currently atop the ODAC in the standings, outscored Bridgewater 8-3 in the second half to walk away with a 19-6 victory.

Match Notes

  • Lauren Roberts recorded her fifth hat trick of the season leading the Eagles' offense with three goals on four shots. She also collected a ground ball and four draw controls.
  • Petersheim finished with a pair of goals and a draw control, while Hacker and Allison Burris each tallied assists.
  • Magill rounded out the scoring and grabbed two ground balls to go with a caused turnover.
  • Rachael Robinson led the way with three ground balls, while also recording eight saves in the loss. 
  • Emily Dell and Caris Cianelli each registered caused turnovers, while Chinelli grabbed four draw controls. Faith Bartos had a three draw controls.
  • Shenandoah held a 27-10 edge in shots and a slim 13-10 advantage in ground balls.
