Eagles Earn Win Against Guilford

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team picked up a 13-6 victory on the road at Guilford in a nonconference tilt on Sunday afternoon.

The Basics

  • Final Score: Bridgewater 13, Guilford 6
  • Records: Bridgewater 3-3; Guilford 2-3

How It Happened

  • Bridgewater got on the board not even 30 seconds into the contest with Madeline Magill scoing off an assist from Allison Burris.
  • The Eagles scored the next four goals to take a 5-0 advantage capped by Jenn Entsminger with Kaity Petersheim on the helper.
  • The two sides exchanged goals to end the first quarter as BC held a 6-2 lead after the first 15 minutes.
  • The next three goals went in for the Eagles as Magill, Allison Burris and Annika Benson all scored to push BC up 9-2, and 10-3 at halftime.
  • Kena Gresham scored her first goal of the season with an assist to Melissa Wilson to start the scoring in the third quarter  before Roberts and Grace Pietro rounded out the goal scoring for the Eagles who held on for a 13-6 win.

Match Notes

  • Benson led the way offensively with three goals to go with three ground balls.
  • Burris, Magill and Roberts all contributed two goals, while Aunnie Hacker led the team with two assists.
  • Brooke Hanson also registered a goal as eight different players recorded goals in the win. 
  • Rachael Robinson made five saves in all 60 minutes, while the Guilford goalie Zenna Carson was forced to stop 14 shots. 
  • The Eagles held a 37-12 advantage in shots, while the Quakers turned the ball over 39 times compared to 27 for BC.
  • Bridgewater was nearly perfect in clear attempts going 17-for-20 and also picked up 39 ground balls compared to 25 for the home side.
