BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- The Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team fell to Hood, 14-8, in the Eagles' season opener on Tuesday evening.

How It Happened

• Bridgewater got on the board first as Ashley Venit scored less than two minutes into the game.
• The Blazers tied the game, but Grace Pietro tallied her first collegiate goal with 6:44 left in the first quarter followed by Allison Burris and Lauren Roberts who put the Eagles up 4-1 after one quarter of play.
• Hood was able to cut the lead to 4-3 before Jenna Entsminger scored off an assist from Roberts to push the lead back to 5-3 with 6:29 left in the first half.
• The Blazers scored the game's next six goals to assume a 9-5 lead as Hood outscored Bridgewater 8-2 in the third quarter.
• Roberts scored both goals in the third an Madeline Magill added one more in the fourth, but the Blazers held on for a 14-8 victory.

Match Notes

• Roberts led all Eagles with three goals and an assist for four points on the day. She also recorded five draw controls, two ground balls and caused a turnover.
• Magill paced the team with three ground balls and also caused two turnovers, while Pietro grabbed four draw controls to go with her first career goal.
• Rachael Robinson stopped 10 shots in her first collegiate start between the pipes.
• Hood outshot Bridgewater 29-25, while also holding a 20-16 advantage in ground balls.
