BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater women's basketball team picked up its third ODAC victory of the season with a 63-52 win over Lynchburg on Wednesday.

How It Happened
- Bridgewater opened the contest with nine unanswered. Riley Corcoran tallied the first seven for BC and Erika Nettles added the final two of the stretch on a second chance layup. The Hornets responded with five-straight, but the Eagles quickly shut down the swing as India Dailey found Jay Garcia to make it 11-5 with 90 seconds to go in the quarter. Ashley Vandrgrift knocked down a three in the closing seconds to close the gap down to three after the first.
- Lynchburg closed the lead down to just a point multiple times in the early going of the second quarter, but Abby Branner and Nettles had quick answer for BC to maintain the lead. Bridgewater opened the lead up to as much as seven with 1:37 remaining in the half off a Jaden Alsberry layup. The Hornets outscored BC 5-2 over the last minute and change to close the gap down to 28-24 at the intermission.
- The Hornets opened the third quarter with a three-pointer to close the game back to within one, but Reagan Maynard found Nettles who laid it in at the hoop for BC. The layup sparked an 8-0 run for the Eagles capped off by another Nettles bucket to give Bridgewater a 36-27 lead three minutes into the second half.
- The Eagles extended the lead to double digits briefly with 4:43 remaining in the third quarter on a Corcoran jumper, but Lynchburg answered quickly to stay within striking distance. The Hornets slowly chipped into the BC lead down the home stretch of the frame closing back to within four at 46-42 heading into the final 10 minutes.
- Bridgewater finally began to pull away in the fourth quarter. Over the first three and a half minutes of the frame the Eagles put together an 8-3 highlighted by four points from Alsberry. BC pushed their advantage out to 58-47 on a Corcoran layup halfway through the fourth. Lynchburg Closed the gap back to eight points with under a minute but Nettles and Dailey hit free throws down the stretch to close out the contest.
Match Notes
- Alsberry and Nettles both picked up a double-double. Alsberry scored a game high 16 and Nettles added 15 while the pair grabbed 11 rebounds each.
- Bree Spainhour led Lynchburg with 13 points and eight rebounds. Kacey Kelly and Maddie Nimmo also put-up double-digit points with 12 and 10 respectively.
- Corcoran was the third BC player in double figures. The freshman totaled 11 points, five rebounds, and a team high five assists.
- Bridgewater held a 44-37 advantage in rebounds. The Eagles also out shot the Hornets 3.8% to 30.8% from the field.
- BC dominated the interior racking up a 36-18 advantage in points in the paint in the win.
